Le avventure di una studentessa italoamericana in Italia

![]() Berry the DogApparently, you can buy your dog a ticket to ride the train system in Italy. Berry (pictured above) was making himself nice and comfortable in the aisle. | ![]() CannoliTo conclude my trip to Florence, I enjoyed a fresh cannoli- made with delicious ricotta cheese and dipped in chocolate chip/pistachio. Safe to say that after eating this giant cannoli, I was not hungry for the rest of the day. | ![]() |

![]() Caesar & FriesAs much as I would like to say I enjoyed an elegant Italian dinner during my night in Florence, I cannot. Maddy and I went out exploring the streets of Florence and couldn't pass up the opportunity to try Italy's version of American food. We ordered a salad and a burger, and the waitress even served us on 1950's-style roller-skates... | ![]() | ![]() Me, in front of the Duomo of Florence. |

![]() View of FlorenceUpon recommendation, Maddy and I climbed 4,000 (that's how many it felt like... I don't know) stairs to experience this incredible view. From the Piazza del Michelangelo, you can look down upon the city of Florence. It was very much worth the climb. | ![]() | ![]() Not the Real DavidAt the top of the Piazza del Michelangelo, this statue resides... it is a famous, and nearly identical, imitation of the real one. |

Without a doubt, Florence (Italy) is my favorite city in Italy. The architecture, monuments, people, and shops were exactly how I pictured my most idealistic version of Italy. Maddy and I got an early start to the day (6am) to catch a train from Milan to Florence. The 2-hour ride was very simple and we were content with our personal room at Hostel Florence Plus. During our first day in Florence, we visited the city's Duomo, climbed to the top of the Piazza del Michelangelo and crossed the beautiful Ponte Vecchio. We enjoyed a traditional Italian lunch (pizza and calzone), as soft accordion music played in the background (video is featured on the home page), and then had to try some gelato later on! For dinner, we were complete tourists, and ate at the "American Diner" down the road from our hostel. The second day, Maddy and I waited 2 1/2 hours on line to take a picture will Michelangelo's famous DAVID statue. The artwork and sculptures were very intriguing and this museum was definitely worth the wait. Finally, the day would not have been complete without an enormous cannoli (half chocolate chip/half pistachio chips).
