Our journey to Pompeii was a long one. Everyone always says that transportation in Southern Italy is unreliable, but until you have been there, you cannot comprehend what this means. Fortunately, though, after taking a 40-minute train in the wrong direction, we were able to go back and get on the right one from Naples to the Ruins of Pompeii. We arrived at the train station and headed to explore the city remains with our audio guides. We walked for a few hours and were even lucky enough to see the sun set in the evening. The whole exhibit was huge and we definitely could have spent more time there, but nighttime adventures awaited us back in Naples. We walked through the streets of Pompeii and arrived some time later at the train station, where we were determined to catch the right train. After a small snack break (the best Nutella tart I have ever consumed), we were safely headed back to Naples on the only train that leaves from Pompeii.
